How We Do It
We use industry standard CPM softwares, Primavera P6® & Microsoft Project®. Our services are tailored to fit any project or budget, based upon each client’s individual needs. Whether your needs are a high-level proposal schedule, or a detailed PMB schedule for DOE/DOD contracts, we can provide a solution to fit.
We understand the needs of various stakeholders within a project & can create schedules for all audiences. From a high level milestone schedule, to a 30-, 60-, 90-day Look-Ahead, or a full lifecycle schedule, we can deliver the product accurately & efficiently.
We provide the following scheduling services:
Proposal Schedule
Proposal schedules are not just a list of items in the RFP constrained to dates leading up to the deadline. They are high-level or summary schedules with the important activities & milestones logically tied, leading to the successful completion of the project. This schedule is an important part of all quality bids & provides the building blocks for a more detailed PMB schedule. A well-planned, professional proposal schedule makes a great impression & can be the winning factor in your bid.
Performance Measurement Baseline
A well-planned PMB is the foundation of all successful projects. This schedule should include all engineering, procurement, construction, start-up, & testing activities; the relationships between each activity, as well as any constraints due to permitting, funding, or other limiting factors. Proper CPM scheduling reduces risk for all stakeholders and decreases the potential for financial losses associated with delays. The PMB provides management with a tool to gauge progress through-out the project by providing the benchmark for on-time delivery.
Cost & Resource Loading
Estimating each schedule activity’s costs & resources involves determining what resources (persons, equipment, or material), as well as the quantities of each, are necessary for completion. Accurate estimates come from expert judgment, alternatives analysis, published estimating data, & input from the project management team. These estimating inputs are to be combined with knowledge of the
project scope, resource calendars, & the project contract. Once this information is gathered & reviewed, the resources & quantities are determined, the cost data should be loaded into the PMB to calculate the project cost baseline.
Periodic Statusing or Updating
Once the project kicks-off, we will facilitate on-site progress meetings at the frequency necessary, based upon the complexity of the schedule & the needs of project management. We will create a 30- or 60-Day Look Ahead schedule layout to be used in the periodic status meetings. We can couple these meetings with site walk-downs, if necessary, to gain further understanding of the project progress & view areas of concern. Once all status has been gathered, we will analyze impacts to the schedule, report variances, & prepare mitigation strategies. In addition to updating status, we perform a complete review of the project schedule to correct out-of-sequence logic, loops, or broken logic ties. Once the schedule is completely statusted & updated, we will prepare complete reports to fit your contract requirements.
Recovery or Mitigation & “What-If” Schedules
As projecst progress, there inevitably will be issues & problems leading to schedule slips & delays. As management determines possible mitigation strategies, we can create a schedule based upon those scenarios. Quite often, the best way to work through these strategies is to copy the current schedule & incorporate possible changes. Working with an off-line copy of the schedule gives the opportunity to compare several options. Once a strategy is chosen, it can then be implemented in the current schedule.
